I was recently asked often by portfolio or gallery websites. Unfortunately, there 'it still does not submit to me. That changes with today's day and the free template "portfolio".

You want to publish your photos on the web? Then, this template is perfect for you!

On a total of 5 main pages you have the opportunity to present your text and images. In the area of the gallery I have provided further subdivisions. First, you can categorize the images by subject (example: landscapes, plants, buildings, animals) and on the other hand, you can distribute the images to the categories on multiple pages (bottom right navigation). Per page, you can include at least 15 images.

The photo gallery is based on the jQuery plugin "Galleria" in Devkick.com - a really well thought out plugin monc .
With this gallery to your website "catcher" is. Images are easily inserted in the form of an unordered list in the website. About the title tags, image descriptions are stored as text.

The layout of the gallery and the website I've implemented with CSS. All CSS parameters are stored in a separate style sheet file.
Plugin settings can be made to the accompanying JavaScript file.

For the placeholder images within the template I have pictures of adigitaldreamer.com and "amygdela's Atmosphere" is used.

    Good day Mrs. Kunkel Duecking,
I studied with great interest the offer of the website template for photo portfolio. Would like for my hobby like to set up something like that. For this purpose, the following questions:
Can I (modify, supplement) intervene directly without much prior knowledge as a layman in the design of the homepage?
I do not want the photographer's caption images directly see in the picture. Can you change it?
Is it possible to set up a page for comments of the visitors?
It would be nice or a "visitor click counter"!
Maybe my questions are unprofessional. Am happy but still when you answer them. Thank you!
    Greetings, Horst Albers

      Hello Mr. Albers

I am often asked whether we as a lay person in a position to adapt the templates to your own needs and I always find it difficult this with a clear yes or no answer :-)
The templates consist of (X) HTML, CSS and instructions in case of portfolio layouts also made a little JavaScript. To modify a template, one should at least deal with HTML and CSS to an understanding of the code to develop and make changes to. Both are not "rocket science".
HTML and CSS, are contrary to make publications, but no programming simple, descriptive scripting language which I believe are erlenen slightly. The devil is, as in many other things here in detail - for example in the browser compatibility.
Conclusion: In my opinion, you can customize the templates as a layman - but it also depends on how far you're willing to deal with HTML and CSS. :-)

      Caption
Yes, the position of the image captions can be changed. In this paper I have read the "Beschriftungsbox" via CSS instructions absolutely positioned relative to the image.
By changing this information can be determined and any other heading.
You will find the statement in the file "styles.css" in the block. "Caption".
In order to intervene here, you need but a basic knowledge of CSS.
A good online reference is as http://www.css4you.de .

      Comments for visitors
There is a little harder :-) To enable this functionality, you need a programming language. Is a visitor fills out a form which is created using HTML and instructions via CSS formatted / designed. Pressing the button to save it send /, something has to happen now with the content. This is determined via a programming language. In general, the PHP is today. Also used are ASP (on Windows Web servers), Perl.
In these languages will be interrogated in relation to a form like the following programming /: Are all the required information, the visitors can comment on that comment will be published immediately, where the comment is saved (file or database), etc.

If you want to add this manually, this is only if you have relevant experience in programming web applications.

An alternative would be on content management systems and blogging software to use, what kind of this house. In your case this would be as Wordpress or Joomla. Both open source software - that is freely available.

For the use of such systems must be the original but then changed and adapted to the conditions of the system. So get back ;-)
      Counter
Yes, that's doable. These are the relevant resources to offer ready-made code that you simply integrate into your HTML page.

Another way to view visitor statistics Web statistics. These are then only for the operator to view the website and be as good as from any provider from whom you can host your website offered.

Web statistics will give you much information about visitors from more than a simple visitor counter. There are such reports by day, week, month, from which countries the visitors come, what pages of the website are visited most often, on which side most visitors leave the website, etc.

A very detailed statistics offers the free service "analytics" from Google.

As you can see there are a lot of writing to your questions and do not's is to answer (or at least me) with a simple YES or NO :-)
When you start your website and implement it raises questions, write me an email. I will try as best I can to help.

Furthermore, I will publish in the next few days, a couple of articles on "My first website". With software tips, links, resources and information on the basic understanding - perhaps that is something for you.

      Best regards
      Sabine Kunkel Dücking

      Hello Mr. Heil,

Unfortunately I could not answer your question for reasons of schedule in recent days. But now: :-)

The Max display of images is fixed. The box provided the dimension of 582 × 372 pixels.
About the CSS file I have defined that all images in this container always have a width of 582 pixels (the height is automatically adjusted proportionally).

They may use to change this by
First the setting in the CSS file to remove
In the file styles.css (line 49)
      # Maxpic img {width: 582px;} # change maxpic img {}

      Second Adjust the image size
If you change the setting listed above, all images have dimensions that fit into the container.
So high-scale images have a height of 372 pixels and Landscape images have a width of 582 pixels

I hope I was able to help you and hope you enjoy using the template.

      Best regards
      Sabine

    Good day Mrs. Kunkel Duecking,

first time a word of praise for your very successful presentation, but I'm having a little problem:

If I leave the pictures in portrait view, they are always positioned at the left edge, there is a possibility that large images to be centered in the viewer?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
I have looked at the picture gallery. I really liked, so I downloaded it.
Looks very professional and is almost exactly what I wanted.
When the image size I'm assuming that the CSS must change. I work at the px Thumps with 100 × 100, are 250 × 250 px and in the large image with 700 × 700th I've put together this out myself, but my site more professional design. I'm Programmierlaie!
The smaller pictures are clear for me, but how can the large 700 × 700 to weave the web that are all the pictures one unit? So, the background does not deviate from the overall design?
For your information many thanks in advance
